FORKLIFT FEATURES & ATTACHMENTS
There are many different features and attachments available to forklifts. Depending on the age, brand and type some come as standard and some are optional extra’s. There are also several ranges & classes of attachments that either come standard with the forklift, are optional extra's or are available aftermarket. Below you will find a list and description of some of the more common features & attachments associated with the standard range of forklifts.
Side Shift - is a hydraulic attachment that allows the operator to move the forks and backrest laterally. This allows easier placement of a load without having to reposition the truck. The side shift will normally move 200mm left or right from the centre.
Height Indicator – as the name suggests, provides the height of the forks at any given time. It is usually provided by an electronic read out.
Weight Gauge/Indicator – this will either come in a digital or analogue form and as the name suggests will measure the weight of your pallet.
Single Point Watering System & Gun - Single-Point Watering System is convenient, safe and accurate. No more wrestling with vent caps, and no more overfilling or underfilling. The watering cap never has to be removed to check water level or to take specific gravity readings. Plus, there is no need to pull a battery from a truck just to add water
AC / DC Motors - The use of AC or alternating current technology is energy efficient, more productive and reliable and more cost effective than the long-used DC or direct current technology. The AC technology allows for a longer time period between recharging, thus allowing the machine to be used for longer periods of time. AC motors are completely enclosed, which reduces exposure and dust and with no motor brushes, which means no sparking, resulting in less maintenance
Video Camera & Monitor - Forklift operators work every day in situations where their vision is limited. Limited vision, whether at the fork tips, or behind the truck, increases handling times. A camera mounted on or behind the forks allows the operate to have a clear view of the fork position relative to the pallet allowing your operators to be able to place forks quickly and accurately with time spent
Kooi-Aap – This is where the forks are hydraulically extendable and retractable, which allow for 'double-deep' stacking, increasing warehouse capacity by up to 30% compared to 'single-deep ' warehouse operations. You do not require a bottom beam

Load Wheel Size – For reach forklifts there are two main options; 1. Single 8” or greater load wheels. 2. Tandem 5” load wheels. The size of the wheel is required is dependant on your operating surface and racking configuration (especially for double-deep)
Lights & Beepers – Under NSW Workcover it is not a requirement that a forklift be fitted with reversing beepers or lights, but if they are fitted they must be properly maintained. If a risk assessment at the workplace identifies that reversing forklifts are a potential risk, the appropriate control measure may be to fit lights and reversing beepers. It is, however, important to look in the direction of travel at all time
Tilting Cabin - To operate reach trucks at high lift heights can be difficult and strenuous. The driver often needs to bend his neck into unnatural positions to see fork tips and secure load retrieval and replacement. In 1993 BT introduced the unique tilting cab feature. The BT unique tilting cab feature focuses on less obstruction on the load, less strain and fatigue for the driver. This results in increased safety and higher productivity.

Access Control - Usually equipment control system designed to prevent untrained and unauthorized personnel from using heavy equipment or machinery. In addition, it provides a means to hold operators accountable for the manner in which equipment is used.
Koala Trucks also supplies a full range of Bolzoni Auramo & Cascade attachments to suit any type of forklift.
